Bill Gates, (52) and his wife Melinda, (43) launched their charity in 2000 known as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Ever since, and even before that, they have donated over £3.5bn. supporting work in more than 100 countries.
'With success I have been given great wealth, with great wealth comes great responsibility to give back to society, to see that those resources are put to work in the best possible way to help those in need', says Bill Gates.
At one time Bill Gates refused to fly first-class because he didn't think it was worth the money.
