45th Anniversary of the Union (26th April)

On Sunday April 26, 2009 the United Republic of Tanzania marked the 45th anniversary of the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar.

First leaders of two countries, the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere of Tanganyika and late Abedi Amani Karume of Zanzibar, signed the contract of the Union on behalf of their respective countries and people.

Today all of us are proud to be called Tanzanians irrespective which side of the union we come from; we are one people, one country!

Enough is enough: Reginald shows the way

IPP Limited Executive Chairman Reginald Mengi:

``Our country is currently facing a huge problem of corruption and is troubled by the fact that the people involved in acts of corruption do not what to be touched.

``The great efforts of His Excellency the President to hasten economic development and better living for every Tanzanian are weakened by the horrendous theft of national resources.

A great majority of Tanzanians still face extreme poverty; they are unable to determine where the one meal a day is going to come from.

``I would like to conclude by saying that all corrupt people and especially those who are being accused of notorious corruption must be dealt with conclusively, otherwise they will rock the stability of our nation. We must realise that we have now reached the stage when we must say enough is enough.``

Madawa ya kukuza miili (misuli) yanaua

Tuesday, 21/04/2009

Kampeni hii inaitwa 'Your health, your way, your choice. (It's your choice)'

Well done Cristiano

The super goal by Cristiano Ronaldo was enough to see Manchester United booking a place into semis, where they will meet Arsenal.

The game plan by the 'boss' Sir Alex was excellent, and for the first time in more than 3 weeks I saw the United side that I am used to see over the past years. Players performed their roles very well and more importantly, they acted as a unit. This is what I have been dying for recently.

I hope this win at Porto, forms the platform for a successful season.

Congratulations Man United,
Viva Ronaldo!

What I said on 'clean-sheets' run

Thursday, April 09, 2009
I remember in January this year I warned Manchester United on the effects of chasing clean sheets records.
From somewhere, back in my mind, I thought that once the clean-sheet run is broken, the team would suffer psychological effects -which in turn would jeopardize their chances of winning the title and other championships pursuit!

Well, may be I wasn't wrong! Once we conceded against Blackburn Rovers, things haven't been the same again!
..........
..........

HERE'S WHAT I SAID IN JANUARY
.............................
Thursday, 29 January 2009
Although we are winning the media has started piling pressure on Man Utd to keep up their record for further cleansheets! My call ... try to play down this 'record' thing ..., what the team needs ... is victories. If we win 1-0s, ... that's fine but we would also be fine with 2-1s, 3-2s or 4-2s.
... if we think too much of keeping clean-sheets, it could affect us (especially) when we concede a goal(s).

..................................

Salt intake

The Food Standards Agency recommends that only 6 grams of salt a day should be consumed.
I have started to adhere to this useful healthy eating guidelines. Excessive consumption can be fatal!
Even sugar - in tea cups and drinks - shouldn't exceed certain acceptable levels (I do not have the FSA guideline with me at the moment).
Ready cooked meals in supermarkets and takeaways are not good, according to dieticians.
We should read the ingredients on the packages (sometimes the percentages of ingredients on the package are misleading). It's better to prepare food on you own, just to make sure the ingredients are within acceptable levels.

Skin cancer

I have read somewhere than skin cancer cases are on the rise, thanks to 'sun beds' (burning) culture.
Hope ladies will take note of that. To be honest this is avoidable, no reason to die so young, ladies!!!

MU: How things went wrong!

Wednesday, 08 April, 2009

Here is my analysis on how and why Manchester United are leaking goals these days!

1. Defenders.
Did not confront opponents who were constantly surging towards our goal. Instead they backtracked and allowed the opponents time/space to move freely and cross the ball. Jony Evans did make such a mistake to allow Porto's first goal.
Defenders should be alert and able to close gaps and, if possible, block the crosses or any attempts at goal.

2. Mid-field players.
Were not performing their duty properly.
i) they did not offer sufficient cover to our defenders, as a result the back four were exposed to opponents' attacks! This was evident in matches against both Aston Villa and Porto.
ii) they did not support attacking players, as a result strikers did not get the required services and hence, became easy to play against (also, sometines due to lack of penetration or tactics to unlock opponents' defense)
iii) their passing accuracy was poor (to their standards). Scholes' and Carrick's passing were uncharacteristic below par throughout the 90-minutes.
iv) they lacked courage to make attempts on goal.

3. Patrice Evra.
Of late he has become vulnerable to losing balls and/or concetration. He did not make a quick move to block the cross which resulted to conceding the second goal against Porto. There was no need for him to be high on the pitch with two minutes remaing (while Manchester United were holding a 2-1 lead). His main priority would be to defend rather than overlapping leaving the defense porous!
He was also at fault to similar mistake on Sunday's game against Aston Villa, by failing to block Barry's cross to Carew who scored the equalizer.

4. Cristiano Ronaldo.
His work rate is questionable. He rarely fights for his team mates. He lost the ball and didn't track back -as a result Porto got their first goal in the 4th minute.
He did a similar mistake on Sunday against Aston Villa by carelessly losing possession and didn't bother to follow behind -this also resulted to a second goal for Villa.
Whenever he loses the ball he never stands up and chase to regain possession. For me, he is not working hard enough to help team mates! Therefore he should do more!

5. Formation.
I didn't fancy yesterday's 4-3-3 formation. We have to accept that Man United do not have 'the Essiens' who could boast at the middle of the park! Therefore this system did not suit Man United at all.
We played the same formation against Liverpool at Anfield earlier this season, but it didn't work for us.
The manager should stick to the usual 4-4-2 because it often gives us positive results on the pitch!

Michelle Obama: A Confidence Builder*

............................................
Whether you come from a country estate or a council estate, your success will be determined by your own confidence and fortude.

'And what Michelle Obama is really doing is showing all us mums who earn that our effort are worth it.

We may may not have jobs that change the world, we may not be married to the men that have those jobs (we may not even have a man around), but that doesn't mean that our multi-tasking isn't important.

Combining family life and working life means that we will never rise to what are considered to be the real heights, but, as Michelle herself said to the Islington School girls, if our children are "loved and nurtured" they can become better, stronger, more successful than their parents.'

WHAT THE PAPERS SAY
The extracts on this page are taken from selected national newspapers. The views expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views of Manchester United.

Papers: In the nick of time 07/04/2009 08:42
Man United wonderkid Federico Macheda’s proud dad has revealed how his son’s move to England saved his family from a life of poverty. When the 17-year-old scored his sensational injury time winner against Aston Villa on Sunday, he ran straight into the arms of dad Pasquale in the Old Trafford crowd. And after the thrilling game Pasquale told how the call from Man United scouts to sign the teenager came in the nick of time two years ago. He said: “It was hard to pay the bills and we had been worrying about having enough money to get to the end of the month. Then we got that fateful telephone call from someone with an English accent.”
[On Macheda’s winner against Aston Villa], Pasquale said: “It was like being in a dream. All these people celebrating Federico’s goal. I cried. He dedicated the
goal to me. He won champagne for being man of the match and gave it to us.”
Damien Fletcher, The Mirror

At yesterday’s pre-Porto press conference, Sir Alex admitted Macheda’s injury-time winner against Aston Villa could have a huge bearing on the Reds’ season. The Sun report his comments: “Sunday was a defining moment,” he said. “We’re still in with a chance of winning three more competitions.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Express report Cristiano Ronaldo has pledged his future to United once again after renewed rumours surrounding a move to Real Madrid. “I’m always asked this question [about Real], but I’m happy at this club. This is the right club for me. It’s a massive club. We are in a good way, we carry on with the wins, we are top again, we have everything to win this season.”

"Mke wangu amenishangaza. Tangu tuoane miezi minane iliyopita alinipa unyumba siku tuliyofunga ndoa tu. tangu hapo amekataa kabisa kunipa haki yangu.

'Kiko' Macheda

'Kiko' is his nickname.
For those who watch MUTV regularly, were not surprized to see his 'magic' goal. He does it in a regular basis in both U-18 and Reserve team games at Carrington or on away grounds.
He came on and really changed the game completely - United looked the team we are always used to see! Both Kiko and Welbeck had several attempts on target in a less than 10 minutes they played together as the front 'TWO'; taking into account that United had only 2 attempts on target before the younsters were introduced by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Kiko is our 'Berbatov' of the future!

2. Arms
-can they raise both arms and keep them there?

3. Speech
-is their speech slurred?

4. Time
-Just like fire, it's time to call 999 if you see any single one of these signs.

'Kiko' Macheda

'Kiko' is his nickname. For those who watch MUTV regularly, were not really surprized to see his magic goal, because he does it in a regular basis in the U18 and Reserve team games both at Carrington ground and away grounds. He came on and changed the game completely and United looked alive! Both Kiko and Welbeck had attempts on target in less than 10-minute cameo, taking into account that United had only 2 attempts on target for over 88 minutes!!!!

He is our 'Berbatov' of the future!

.............................

Introducing... Kiko Macheda
We catch up with Italian striker Federico Macheda for chat about being a United player, and his interests off the field...

Born: Rome, 22 August 1991

Age: 17

Position: Striker

Strengths:
I think I have good technique, I’m strong and I’m a good finisher.
Ways I can improve: Everything. I must improve every part of my game, especially my heading! I try to improve on it in training. After we’ve finished the group session I’ll try and work on that part of my game.
A player at United I admire: Rooney and Tevez. They work so hard on the pitch and they are excellent finishers. They’re among the best strikers in the world and I think I can learn a lot from the way they play, while Dimitar Berbatov is a different forward altogether. At United you learn from the best.
I first got spotted: I remember it very well. There was a scout in Italy who spotted me and wanted to bring me over to Manchester. I was so pleased when I found out. I didn’t believe it at first. When I first heard about it I didn’t pay much attention because I didn’t think it was true.

Life at United:
Being a United player is very good. You’re playing for the best team in the world. I am very proud to call myself a Manchester United player. When I came here it was amazing. It’s so different to Italy. In Italy, you are completely separate from the first-team. You’re not even on the same training ground. Here, you see the players every day, speak to them, you train on the pitches near them and you eat in the canteen together.

Best moment in football so far:
Coming to play for Manchester United.

Africa in the G20: what a reader says

Africa's participation in the G20 in London is a further indication of closer cooperation.

By regulating financial markets and allocating aid, world leaders at the G20 summit are laying the foundation for recovery.

Despite the suffering that it augers, the global economic crisis is also driving greater international cooperation.

It's a big 'No' to Madonna!

Friday, April 03, 2009
Madonna has lost her court battle to adopt a second child in Malawi. Malawi's High Court ruled that she could not be granted an interim adoption of a four-year-old girl, Mercy James.

Court registrar Ken Manda said her bid had been rejected because the singer was not a resident of Malawi.

Malawian civil society groups opposed the adoption attempt and a local human rights activist said it would amount to child trafficking.

Rights groups had accused Malawian authorities of giving the pop star special treatment.

Earlier, Malawian information minister Patricia Kaliati said Madonna had helped in the country and was a worthy mother.

She said: "Madonna has been good to us, she is supporting over 25,000 orphans in this country and she has proved that she can take care of David.

"Very few rich and famous people can take time to fly all the way to Malawi to support our children - we support her adoption process."

Thu. April 02, 2009

Hali ya Upatikanaji wa Umeme Nchini
Ndugu Wananchi,Kwa takriban miezi mwili sasa umeme umekuwa gumzo kubwa hapa nchini.

Ndugu Wananchi;

Ndugu Wananchi;

Ndugu Wananchi;

Ndugu Wananchi;

Ndugu Wananchi;

Miongoni mwa mambo ambayo tuliyasisitiza ni;
