Low budget houses

If you have limited financial resources or unreliable source of income but you would like to have a house of your own, here are the tips to help you achieve the objective:
-find out a place (building site) which you can afford.
-make your house plan(s) as simple as possible to meet basic requirements (functional).
-use the rectangular shaped plans as they are easy to construct and minimize the waste of materials. (Irregular, curved or sharp corners increase the perimeter of the house and hence additional cost is incurred).
-use local labour/manpower as they are cheaper (no skilled personnel is necessary!)
-use locally available building materials e.g. sand, stones, timber etc.
-use simple means of transport e.g. carts, manpower
-choose a simple and cost effective roof type and materials (to minimize the quantity of roofing materials required and the wastages -from irregular or curved cuts).
-get yourself involved in every stage.
