Sir Alex on United's current fitness level
Fitness – or, more importantly, match-fitness – is the key to even the slightest change in United’s form.
“The form comes naturally as you gain sharpness and fitness,”
“Match fitness is really important. You can train as much as you like, but playing in matches gives you edge, timing and better breathing.”

UK ID Cards for foreign nationals
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has unveiled the design for the controversial new identity card.
Foreign nationals will be issued the cards, which critics have described as unnecessary, costly and anti-liberty, from November.
People working in airports and other high security jobs will receive them from next year.
Ms Smith used the launch to defend the scheme. She said: "ID cards will help protect against identity fraud, illegal working, reduce the use of multiple identities in organised crime and terrorism, crack down on those trying to abuse positions of trust and make it easier for people to prove they are who they say they are."
But there are fears about the security of personal data after a run of well-publicised government data loss blunders.
Liberty Director Shami Chakrabarti said: "If the card came with loyalty points, we still wouldn't buy it. "Picking on foreigners first is divisive politics; as costly to our race relations as our purses."
Each card will carry a picture and a chip holding the person's name and date of birth, fingerprint record and other biometric data.
They will also detail the holder's visa status and right to work.
From 2011 everyone over the age of 16 applying for a passport will have their details added to a national identity register.

Weil's disease (leptospirosis)
Weil's disease is caused by leptospirosis bacteria found in rats' urine. The leptospirosis bacteria infects small mammals and rodents.
How to catch it
Scratched hands or skin expose blood vessels by coming in contact with rats' or small mammals' urine in the soil, hence contracting the disease. Bacteria come out of rats via their urine and people with open wounds can easily be infected.
In short, Weil's disease is usually caught through contact with soil or water contaminated with animal's urine.
Where to catch it
Living near wild animals heaven (railway lines and bushy gardens).
Who are vulnerable to catch it?
Most farmers and sewage workers. There are about 50 cases* a year.
Incubation period
Around 4* days.
Symptoms
Patient develops flu-like symptoms and severe jaundice. Conditon can deteriorate quickly and patient can get heart attack (which can lead to death).
Patient may be able to talk.
Treatment
The weil's disease can be treated if caught in time after infection (by anti-biotics?)
How to prevent it
By wearing gloves to protect hands/skin.

Zawadi usiyotegemea

MUTV's 10th Anniversary

MUTV celebrates 10 years
The 1998/99 season was not only a successful one for Manchester United on the field, there were also some landmark achievements for the club off the field - not least the launch of its own television channel, MUTV.
MUTV first went on air on 10 September 1998, showing exclusive behind the scenes programmes with a message of: 'Get MUTV, get closer to Manchester United.'
Former players have been a constant presence on MUTV in its first decade. Lou Macari says: "I've been with MUTV since the beginning and I've loved every minute of it.
"It gives me the chance to still be part of United. I've been lucky enough to go to the cup finals with MUTV - Moscow this year was an adventure and a trip I'll never forget.
"MUTV is a great place to work, and there are some great characters behind the scenes. I enjoy working with all the cameramen, technicians, producers and presenters. It's a real laugh but just like United's players and coaching staff, they all work extremely hard."
Lou was one of five legends lined up to take part in Wednesday's special edition of Live at the Red Cafe on MUTV (18:30 BST). Also answering questions from the studio audience were Pat Crerand, David May, Alex Stepney and Mickey Thomas.

Severe weather warnings in UK
A flood warning has been issued to parts of the UK, with two weeks worth of rain due to fall in 24 hours.
South West England and South Wales have been battered since the early hours and the rain is expected to head north east throughout the day, hitting Northern Ireland and the south of Scotland by mid-afternoon.
Meteorologist Paul Mott warned that up to 50mm of rain is expected in the next 24 hours, as much as would be typically seen in a fortnight in September.
Experts said that an unusually-wet August has left the ground saturated and added to the risk of flooding.
Gusts of up to 50mph will make it a "thoroughly miserable" day, and commuters have been advised to leave extra time for their journeys because of the weather.
"For most areas it will be a wet and miserable day, and we would advise people to take care on the roads and allow extra time for their journeys", Mr Mott said.
"There will be some localised flooding in Wales and the North East in areas that are prone to it, but we're not expecting widespread flooding."
"It's going to remain unstable over the weekend. There will be rain, sometimes heavy rain, through the UK with northern England bearing the brunt of it."
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the region until this evening and say around 2in of rain is expected.
Severe weather warnings are also in force for Wales, the North West, North East, South West and South East of England as well as London.

Karibu Berbatov, ila kuna 'watu walikuteta'!!
Manager Alex Ferguson on Berbatov;
“He’ll bring a bit of composure to our attack,” the boss told MUTV. “He’ll be a good focus for the team in terms of points of attack.
“It’s a fantastic piece of business by the club. We’ve signed a very clever player; great vision, balance, he’s a good finisher and he has presence. That’s not just in terms of his height, he’s got an overall presence about him.
“He’s a big game player, there’s no question about that. His performances against us in the last couple of years have been very good. And given the fact our young forwards will be playing alongside a 27-year-old, it gives us that little bit more experience in a vital area.
“Of course [goalscoring has been a concern]. But we’ve got Ronaldo to come back and now we’ve got Dimitar Berbatov, that gives us a great array of talent.”

Love, Perfomance and Life!
Last season in different occassions I heard from Alan Shearer and Tony Adams that there were players who need to be loved in order to get out the best from them.
Shearer, the former Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle star, was talking in the famous BBC One/Two matchday highlights program -Match of the Day; where he is the regular pundit.
In the show Shearer mentioned that Jermain Jenas was not performing well at Newcastle because he was not loved. At the moment Jenas is doing well at Tottenham Hotspars because he is loved (he needs to be loved).
Also Jenas' teammate, Dimitar Berbatov, was another player whose performance needs to be boosted by love. When Berbatov is loved, he plays very well according to Shearer.
Tony Adams, assistant manager at Portsmouth FC, (once on tv -skysports(?)) said that Glen Johnson who plays at Portsmouth is doing well at the moment because he needed to loved -something which he lacked at Chesea!
These comments might be true or might not, but in my own view I think it is true that 'love' is an important component in everyday life (not only in sports as Shearer and Adams have pointed out).
Human beings naturally do react positively to love being shown to them by others.
That is why I said this yesterday; give love as much as you would like to be loved!

I say 'Thank you Louis Saha!
02/09/2008
Saha did a fantastic job at Manchester United. So I would like to thank him for his effort and wish him success at Everton.

............................................................
Louis Saha has completed his move to Everton after signing a two-year deal with the Toffees.
The striker, who also has the option of a third year at Goodison Park, successfully passed a medical over the weekend and has joined for an undisclosed fee. He will wear the No.9 shirt for his new club.
The 30-year-old netted 42 goals in 124 appearances for the Reds during his four-and-a-half-year career at Old Trafford. But after a promising start he endured a torrid time with injuries and spent prolonged periods on the sidelines.
Saha is looking forward to the challenges ahead with his new club, but admits he is sad at the way his time at Old Trafford ended.
"I am quite disappointed my time with United has finished like this, with so many injury problems. But I am very happy a club of Everton's stature have shown they are interested in me," he told the official Everton website.
"There is European football for one thing, and I was very impressed when I spoke to their manager David Moyes. He told me exactly how he wanted me to play. He was very honest with me.
"I also spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson and he said it would be good for me to sign for Everton because I would get the chance to play more than at United. He also thought it would help my fitness if I was playing every week."
Everyone at Old Trafford would like to wish Louis all the best for the future.
